mountmaxwell Restlessly curious and inventive at every turn, like all of Archibald's work. Love this album. Favorite track: Odlum and Gravely.

Art K Listening to an Alex Archibald album takes you on a sound journey through the history of string music, from old time influences to modern flourishes. Alexโ€™s stellar playing holds it all together. Great tape.

lornarowe Alex's music is so deeply human - his style of playing is rooted in emotional and intellectual honesty and generosity. He's one of Vancouver's best and most treasured guitarists, and this is some of his finest work.

about

For Alexander Cederlund, aka: Bonesleigh R.I.P.

This album was recorded mostly towards the end of 2020 and in the winter of 2021. "MAD Boy" is for Morrisey Archibald Doyle. "Lost Cat" is for a cat that came back to my sister's house after not having been seen for a while. "Hopefully Mutinous" is a call to action for myself, born out of an improv-ed piece that solidified itself through repeated playing. "Odlum and Gravely" is a kind of horror/fantasy about the industrial area near where I live. "Hard Rock Harold" is for my grandfather Harold Rayner, who was a log scaler on the BC coast, hard rock being a nickname used by his co-workers referring to his work ethic. "Spinster" relates to where I feel I'm at sometimes in life. "Wood Bug" has a bunch of personal meaning, the field recordings here are mostly taken from my apartment balcony (a garbage truck which is coincidentally semi-wood bug shaped, birds, people going by) as is the view in the front cover photo. "Like No One's Watching" was named by Louise Archibald.
